Church History

Church history is exciting because it details the most thrilling enterprise in the whole world – the building by Jesus Christ of His Church.

Students of this unit will learn how the Lord has worked in the lives of men and women in all ages. This has not always been easy or worked out for His glory as man has sometimes introduced teachings and schemes contrary to what is revealed in the Bible, with resultant failure.

History inevitably repeats itself, so that a student of history will be aware of the pitfalls that have unfortunately plagued previous generations. The good and bad incidents we read about set us examples to follow and errors to shun.

The history of Christianity is a help to faith. In Church History we see how life giving faith has transformed society over the centuries. It has not only remade lives of individuals but also their attitudes, their values and their culture so that they become a force which turned the world of their generation “upside down”.

Their success can be matched by ours if we seek as they did to honour the head of the church, Jesus Christ, in all that we do.
