Integration of spirituality in counselling: scripture
In this session we will consider some practical ways counsellors can ethically use sacred texts meaningful to the client without ‘Bible bashing’. We will introduce an ethical framework that can be used for any spiritual or religious intervention and briefly consider the research that especially supports the use of Scripture with Christian clients.
To help with this we will discuss the difference between Christian counselling and biblical counselling, recognising the merits of both yet more fully understanding why Biblical Counselling is not suitable for a professional therapeutic session.
At the end of the course participants will be equipped with at least three practical ways they can immediately incorporate scripture that is both ethically safe and in keeping with counselling principles.
